Our Services
LifeSteps is an organisation dedicated to implementing various projects in collaboration with schools, police, youth justice and Essex youth service. Our three-tiered project approach is designed to offer support to both service users (clients) and collaborators (services) through a referral system. This approach includes Preventative, Supportive, and Restorative intervention projects, each focused on addressing a range of issues related to mental health, school attendance, anti-social behaviour, at-risk youth, exploitation, and overall well-being.

Fighting The Culture
Preventative intervention
Fighting the Culture is a recognised initiative aimed at educating young individuals about exploitation awareness and gang culture. Students as young as Ten years old will receive guidance on identifying potential risks and strategies to protect themselves from exploitation. This will be accomplished through assemblies, workshops, and support groups for families, where parents will learn about the factors that contribute to exploitation.
Wellbeing Programme
Supportive intervention
Supportive intervention serves as the foundational level of support aimed at assisting schools and educating students on various topics to help mitigate potential future challenges.
LifeSteps collaborates with schools throughout the borough by providing workshops focused on promoting the mental health and well-being of students. Students will engage with a diverse range of subjects through tailored group sessions supplemented with workbooks, while those needing additional support due to emerging mental health concerns will participate in one to one CBT coaching sessions through our restorative services.
Qualifications
In these sessions we will deliver specialist training qualifications which include: Personal, Social and Vocational development. These sessions are part of the Personal and Social Education Framework for England helping students to achieve their academic potential.

CBT Coaching course
Course length: 6–12 weeks (adaptable based on need)

Our CBT coaching course utilises a practical, evidence-based methodology aimed at helping young people understand and regulate their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. This approach is especially effective for children and adolescents encountering complex challenges, such as mental health issues, emotional and behavioural difficulties, children in care, or family disruptions.
During these sessions, Mentees will be guided through our core areas of development, including personal, social, and vocational growth.
Workbooks & Certification
Role Modelling Programme
Restorative intervention

Participants will receive workbooks and will be presented with a certificate of achievement upon successful completion of the programme.
This programme has been successfully operating for seven years, supporting over 100 service users. It focuses on providing individual assistance to young people in alternative education settings or those at risk of permanent exclusion, as well as disadvantaged families. The service is designed to complement the efforts of Essex social care and law enforcement in addressing the needs of young individuals who may be experiencing grooming or school refusal. Through targeted social outreach, music, sports, coaching, and counselling sessions, the programme aims to promote well-being, facilitate reintegration into mainstream education, and prevent exploitation.
Detached Youth Work
Our detached youth work focuses on engaging young people within their own environments and encouraging their participation in community activities. Mentoring sessions are tailored to the individual, focusing on the specific needs, experiences, and goals of each young person. Recognising that each individual has unique challenges, backgrounds, and aspirations, our support is customised rather than one-size-fits-all.
Family Intervention
The family home plays a vital role in fostering the self-esteem and long-term development of young people. Our coaches assist parents and caregivers by providing tools and strategies to support their child's growth and development.
Increasing Parental Confidence and Skills
-
Parent Workshops: Sessions on topics like setting boundaries, teen mental health, or digital safety help build knowledge and confidence.
-
Financial Skills Support: Joint budgeting and shopping activities with young people model responsible money habits that benefit the whole household.
-
Celebrating Achievements: Involving parents in events where their children are recognised (certificates, showcases, tournaments) boosts pride and reinforces positivity.

Your voice matters!
Your Voice Matters is a community focus group that brings young people together to share their experiences, challenges, and ideas for change. It creates a safe space where they can openly discuss the difficulties they face in their local area—such as education, wellbeing, safety, and opportunities—and highlight the support they truly need. By listening directly to young people, we ensure their voices shape the services, projects, and solutions designed for them. Your Voice Matters empowers young people to be heard, valued, and involved in building a stronger, more supportive community.
